Aussi bien acoustique qu’électrique puisque La Guild Artist Award a été conçue pour vibrer comme une acoustique. 

Elle a été développé avec le guitariste de jazz Johnny Smith. De 1956 à 1960, elle était connue sous le nom de Johnny Smith Award, 

mais lorsque Smith est passé chez Gibson, le modèle a été rebaptisé Artist Award. À partir de 1968, la littérature Guild associe généralement l'Artist Award au guitariste de jazz George Benson.

Cette archtop haut de gamme de Guild est une guitare de jazz d’une qualité incroyable. 

Elle est dotée d'un corps de 17 pouces et d'un micro flottant DeArmond d'origine posé en bout de touche. La table d'harmonie est en épicéa massif avec éclisses et fond en érable ondé, la touche est en ébène et le manche en érable 5 pièces très fin. La plaque de tête cerclée avec motif Artist Award est en nacre et abalone, exécuté à la main. Mécanismes Grover Imperial plaqués or. Cordier "harpe" en or, gravé à la main.

Il y a une petite gravure avec le numéro 54 sur le cache trussrod.

Une superbe archtop avec une réponse et un sustain exceptionnels.

It was developed with jazz guitarist Johnny Smith. From 1956 to 1960, it was known as the Johnny Smith Award, but when Smith moved to Gibson, the model was re-designated the Artist Award. From around 1968, Guild literature typically associated the Artist Award with jazz guitarist George Benson.

This top-of-the-line archtop from Guild is a jazz guitar of incredible quality. 

It features a 17" body and an original DeArmond floating pickup. Solid carved spruce top with curly maple sides and back, Bound Ebony fingerboard with inlaid mother-of-pearl rectangular position blocks and abalone inserts. Bound head plate with Artist Award motif is hand-finished in mother-of-pearl and abalone. Gold-plated Grover Imperial mechanisms. Gold-plated, hand-engraved "harp" tailpiece. 

There is a small engraving with the number 54 on the trussrod cover.

A superb archtop with exceptional response and sustain.
