Gibson Les Paul Studio Ebony de 1993

Introduite dans les années 80, le modèle Studio a été conçu pour répondre à un vide dans la gamme des Les Paul, considérées comme haut de gamme et pas toujours accessibles. Faites pour attirer les musiciens désirants avoir le son typique  de la Les Paul sans toute l’esthétique du modèle supérieur et à un moindre cout, la Studio proposait au début un corps plus fin sans binding et inlay sur la tête avec, en plus, des versions Standard et Custom. La Studio a subi beaucoup d’arrangements et de modifications au cours des années mais reste un modèle très apprécié par sa simplicité et son efficacité.

Cette Studio a été customisée à la fin des années 90, on retrouve sa finition d’origine  avec des motifs dorés peints couleur or. Néanmoins, l’électronique d’origine a été conservée : micros 490R/498T pour un son gras et rugueux, autant que crémeux et doux quand on passe sur le micro manche. Un corps en acajou avec table en érable et une très belle touche en ébène (plus disponible aujourd’hui). 

En bref, c’est un modèle moins onéreux qu’une Standard ou une Custom mais tout aussi efficace et qui pourra rugir à la manière de ces grandes soeurs.

Introduced in the 80’s, the Studio model was designed to answer a gap in the Les Paul line, considered as high-end and less accessible guitars. Made to attract musicians who wanted to have the sound of a Les Paul without the overall aesthetic of the higher models for a cheaper price, the Studio was sold as a thinner and no binding model, without headstock inlays and was declined in in a lot of different variations. The Studio has had many modifications by the years but remains a well appreciated and very efficient Les Paul model.

This one was customized in the end of the 90’s with golden motifs on her original black finish. The electronics are still the original one : 490R/498T pickups with fat and rugged sound, as much as a creamy and smooth tone when you hit the neck pickup. 

She has a mahogany body with maple top and a beautiful ebony fretboard which is no longer available in these models. 

It is a more affordable model than a Standard or a Custom with equal efficiency and she can roar like her big sisters for sure.
