Les premières guitares Norman ont été fabriquées au début des années 1970. La renommée de la marque repose sur la superbe qualité de ses instruments, reconnus partout dans le monde comme “La guitare canadienne”.

C’est à la fin des année 60 que Normand Boucher fonde Norman Guitars à la Patrie au Quebec.
Au début des année 1970, il fait la connaissance de Robert Godin et les deux amis s’allient, l’un à la construction et l’autre à la distribution.
Au cours de cette décennie, elle devient première entreprise de guitares au Canada grace à leur savoir faire et la qualité des instruments qu’ils proposent.

En 1988, Robert Godin rachète l’entreprise et encore aujourd’hui les guitares Norman demeurent une référence au Québec.

Voici un modèle dreadnought daté entre 1975 et 1980 basé sur la fameuse D-18 de chez Martin.

On retrouve une belle table massive en épicéa, un dos et des éclisses en merisier, un manche en acajou et une touche en palissandre.

La fixation du manche est un concept nouveau à l’époque puisqu’il est boulonné et le talon se situe à l’intérieur de la caisse, pour un meilleur réglage de l’instrument.

Niveau sonorité, la guitare projette très bien avec du sustain, de l’équilibre et une belle dynamique.

Elle est en excellent état et brille comme au premier jour. On sent la qualité de l’instrument qui n’a quasiment pas bougé depuis sa fabrication il y a presque 50 ans.

Elle est livrée avec son hardcase original.

The first Norman guitars were made during the early 70’s. The reputation of the brand rests on the great quality of their instruments, known in the world as « the Canadian guitar ».

It’s at the end of the 60’s that Normand Boucher founded Norman in La patrie, Quebec. In early 70’s, he met Robert Godin and shortly after, the two friends started working together, as builder and distributor.
During the decade, Norman becomes the first Canadian guitar brand thanks to the craftsmanship and great quality of their instruments.

In 1988, Robert Godin bought the brand and still today, Norman’s guitars remains a reference in Quebec.

Here is a dreadnought shaped model, dated 75 to 1980, based on a D-18 from Martin.

You have a beautiful massive spruce top, cherry wood back and side, a mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard.

The neck is a bolt on and the heel is inside the body which makes it easier to adjust, a new concept invented by Normand at the time.

Regarding the sound, this guitar projects nice, warm tones with sustain, balance and a good dynamic.

She is in great shape, shining like it’s her first day. You feel the quality of the instrument which didn’t move even with her almost 50 years of life.
